Curriculum Overviews

Our curriculum distinguishes between subject topics and 'threshold concepts'. Subject topics are specific aspects of subjects that are taught. Threshold concepts tie together the subject topics into meaningful/manageable frameworks that are easier for children to interpret. The same concepts are explored in a wide range of topics. Children return to the same concepts over and over and gradually build up their understanding of them.

For each of the threshold concepts three milestones, each containing the knowledge the children need to understand the threshold concepts, provides a progression model. Where subjects aren't organised into milestones, the knowledge and skills progression in each subject is organised by Year group.The detail included in these plans can be seen by clicking on the subject links below:
