Assessment in PE

From Nursery all the way up to year 6 our pupils receive a minimum of one PE lesson a week. This is with our dedicated PE teacher or our external dance teacher who is in 2 days a week. Pupils follow the national curriculum, allowing them to gain the skills necessary to take part in a wide range of activities. To ensure pupils are making good progress they are assessed using our new assessment format. Below is a link to an example of our assessment format.

Assessment for Learning

“Assessment for learning is the process of seeking and interpreting evidence for use by learners and their teachers to decide where the learners are in their learning, where they need to go and how best to get there”.   Assessment Reform Group, 2002

This is used in PE lessons to allow pupils to understand where they are at in each lesson and how to progress further. Here is the layout used on the whiteboard in the school hall.
